EMMAUS

What is the Emmaus program?

The Emmaus program was started in the early 1970's by a group of lay people, with the help of the Sacred Hearts Fathers. Together, they saw a need for the Church to reach out to young adults and wanted to share how important Christ has been in their lives. Today, the Emmaus program continues to meet this need by bringing Christ into the lives of thousands of people throughout the Northeast and beyond! The program is endorsed by the Diocese of Fall River and under the leadership of various lay and religious women and men.

When do Emmaus retreats occur?

Emmaus retreats take place three times per year, in November, March and June. For exact weekend dates and application deadlines, as well as other information, please refer to their website.

What happens after Emmaus?

Many members of the Emmaus community gather on the second Sunday of each month (unless otherwise noted) for “Galilee.” At each Galilee, there is a featured speaker who will witness on a particular topic followed by the celebration of Mass. Galilee is a great time to see old friends and meet new ones. Galilee is open to ALL persons, whether they have attended an Emmaus retreat or not.
*Emmaus is an independent retreat program operating in the Diocese of Fall River.
The Office of Faith Formation supports its mission.
