YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY

“Dear young people, we have seen that it is the Holy Spirit who brings about the wonderful communion of believers in Jesus Christ.  True to his nature as giver and gift alike, he is even now working through you.  Inspired by the insights of Saint Augustine: let unifying love be your measure; abiding love your  challenge; self-giving love your mission! ”

(Holiness Benedict XVI, July 19, 2008)

Comprehensive Youth Ministry Goals & Components:

There are three interdependent and equally important goals that express the Church’s focus for ministry with adolescents.

  • To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
  • To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community.
  • To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

A comprehensive ministry with adolescents includes a balance of the following eight components (ministries).  These components “provide a framework for the Catholic community to respond to the needs of young people and to involve young people in sharing their unique gifts with the larger community (RTV, 26).

  1. Advocacy                                    5.    Justice & Service
  2. Catechesis Development           6.    Leadership Development
  3. Community Life                          7.    Pastoral Care
  4. Evangelization                            8.    Prayer & Worship

Jeremiah’s Journey is a ministry to college students and other young adults

(those us who are the same age as Jeremiah) to help us hear the word of God wherever we may be, at Church, at play or at work.  Like Jeremiah, we seek to grow in trust of God and to draw strength with the knowledge of his presence that allows us to remain faithful to the Faith in the

day to day of life.
