About Comprehensive Youth Ministry
There are three interdependent and equally important goals that express the Church’s focus for ministry with adolescents.
- To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
- To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community.
- To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.
A comprehensive ministry with adolescents includes a balance of the following eight components (ministries). These components “provide a framework for the Catholic community to respond to the needs of young people and to involve young people in sharing their unique gifts with the larger community (RTV, 26).
- Advocacy 5. Justice & Service
- Catechesis Development 6. Leadership Development
- Community Life 7. Pastoral Care
- Evangelization 8. Prayer & Worship
