Catechesis is that form of ministry whereby  the good news of Jesus Christ is shared with those who have encountered Christ and are seeking to become His faithful disciples. It is a lifelong journey from baptism to eternity.

Catechists  are those  who have answered the call to this essential ministry of the church. These dedicated men and women of the church are vital to the ongoing mission of bringing about the kingdom of God. They are in need of support, on-going training, spiritual enrichment, and blessed affirmation to continue their service of bringing the good news to children, youth, and adults year after year.

The Office of Faith Formation seeks to form and energize catechists by offering training programs, workshops, retreats, conventions and other opportunities for enrichment. It also aims to support the catechetical leaders in each of the parishes of the diocese by offering guidance, affirmation, and training.  Additionally, structures and guidelines for effective parish programs for both youth and adults are provided by the office.  Organizing and offering  opportunities for networking with others in this ministry as well as individual affirmation and support constitute other  ways this goal is accomplished.

It is the expressed desire and goal of the Office of Faith Formation to not only support the catechists and catechetical leaders in the parishes but also to offer formation opportunities of personal growth, spirituality, knowledge of theology, and pastoral expertise to all those who minister in parishes.
